Intra Abdominal Pressure

Intra Abdominal Pressure (IAP) is the term used to explain the pressure we build in our trunk to stabilise our spine. There are a number of ways to do this. At Motus Life our Osteopaths and S&C Coaches use a variation that requires lengthening of the abdominal wall through breathing.

See both the video's below to learn the basic steps of how to master this! It can be tricky at first but practicing just once every day can have a great effect and you'll find this way of stabilising becomes much more automatic and efficient for you.

As always, this is general advice only, if you have any questions about this or want help mastering this exercise, book an appointment with us!
